Closed for winter is an ongoing project. I photograph disused summer
resorts
in the winter. They remain static without a function waiting for the
next
warm sunny day. The elements gradually invade the features in the
landscape.
The weather takes over from the visitor and tourists as its only
inhabitant,
changing the landscape, wiping out all signs of human habitation. But
there
is also a sense of purpose in these places. The design and lay out of
these
places are conducive to the activities they offer. Have a drink while
playing some table football, look at the distant hills, soaking up the
sun
while having a break from daily obligations, walk along the path to see
and
be seen. The only incongruity is the lack of activity in a place that
is
well suited for it. Closed for Winter presents us with an experience of
non-participation.
